Feeling green

We spent much of this weekend outside in the yard. I’m very satisfied with the progress we’ve made despite being physically out of shape. On the way to a friend’s graduation party I stretched a tightening muscle group, and I asked Lisa, “How is it possible to feel so good and also feel so bad?”

She immediately quipped, “It's choices you've made.”

True, if had had chosen to exercise more throughout the winter, I would not be feeling the effects of my work in the same way. Nevertheless, it was my choice to work a long day in the yard before leaving for the party.

Ultimately, the sum of our lives is the choices we have made. This weekend, I chose to enjoy the beauty with which God has generously surrounded me.

He who trusts in his riches will fall,
But the righteous will flourish like the green leaf.
Proverbs 11:28 (NASB)
